GridGenius predicts daily national energy demand for Bangladesh using Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) models, including a specialized Transformer architecture.

By analyzing historical data (temperature, date components, holidays, past demand/generation) sourced from official BPDB reports (2020-2024), the system generates accurate forecasts.

This core functionality, accessible via the 'Predict' page (GridOracle), enables smarter energy generation planning, aiming to reduce resource wastage, minimize load shedding, and lower overall energy costs.

Explainable AI (XAI)

Understanding why an AI makes certain predictions is crucial for trust and adoption. GridGenius incorporates XAI through its conversational assistant, "GridGenius".

Powered by a Large Language Model Llama3 using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), GridGenius can answer questions about the project's methodology, the dataset used, features, model choices, and EDA insights.

It retrieves relevant information from the project to provide contextually accurate and natural language explanations, making the system more transparent.

Optimization Insights

Beyond just forecasting, GridGenius aims to provide insights for optimizing Bangladesh's national energy grid. A key concept is calculating the "Ideal Generation" (predicted demand + safety margin).

By comparing this Ideal Generation against the Actual Generation reported historically (from BPDB data), we can identify periods of over-generation (wastage) or under-generation (potential load shedding).

The 'Insights' page visually presents Data Analysis and Model Performance metrics, helping stakeholders understand trends, correlations (like Temperature vs. Demand), and areas where generation strategies can be refined for better efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability.
